Introduction

Ganak is a caste of traditional astrologers from Assam, India.

 They are also known as :
  • Ganak Brahmins 
  • Daivagrya Brahmin 
  • Surjya Bipra 
  • Acharya 
  • Graha Bipra. 

They claim that they are descendants of Sakaldwipiya Brahmins.

The common surnames used by the community are:
  • Sarma/Sarmah 
  • Changkakoti
  • Bordoloi
  • Mojinder/Mazinder Baruah

  6. I came across one person from assam stating that he is a Daivadnya/Daivagya brahmin.
    I am a Daivadnya brahmin from Karnataka with an ancestry from goa.
    It would be interesting to know the rituals and traditions, May be our ancestry may be same.
